Short version: your goals and Pathway progress stay in your browser. Information reaches us only when you press “Send” on the survey or the update list, or when you email us yourself. Nothing leaves your device on its own.
App data
Pathway stores your goals, progress and a local event summary on your device. There is no Pathway account. We do not automatically receive the text of your goals, your notes or the name you give yourself in the app. You can export your app data from Settings.
The app at yourpathway.app/app and this page share one website address, so they share one browser storage. Clearing this site’s data in your browser or phone settings deletes your Pathway goals and progress too. Export your map from the app’s Settings first if you want to keep it. An installed (home-screen) copy of the app may keep its own separate storage, depending on the browser.
Local attribution
The beta page may save in local browser storage: allowed campaign labels (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term), the recruitment wave from the link you arrived with (pathway-src-v1: a label such as w1, the date, and the name of the entry point), your language choice (pathway-landing-lang), a random 12-character survey identifier (pathway-rid-v1) and a note that a survey was sent from this browser (pathway-survey-sent-v1). None of it leaves your device on its own. The labels and the identifier are included in a survey or update-list record only when you press “Send”, so that we can tell which beta invitation led to useful feedback and join a first answer with a follow-up without asking for a name.
Survey and update list
When you press “Send my answers” on the survey, or “Add me to the list” on the update list, the page sends the record to a small server operated by Pathway and hosted on Netlify (Netlify, Inc., acting as our hosting provider and processor). The record is stored in Netlify Blobs inside Pathway’s own account and is read only by the person running the beta. No form service, analytics service or advertising network is involved.
A survey record contains exactly:
- your answers to the questions you were shown (questions skipped by the branching are recorded as “n/d”), including the one optional free-text field — please do not paste the text of your goal into it;
- your separate consents: whether you agreed to one follow-up message and whether you want to hear about the launch;
- your email address, only if you typed one; it is stored separately from the answers and joined to them by the survey identifier;
- an optional device summary — active days, session and milestone counts, which ready-made template you picked (for example “sleep”), and whether a return visit was seen — only if you tick “Include an anonymous usage summary”. You can open “Show exactly what will be sent” to see the full block before sending. Without the tick, none of these counters are sent;
- recruitment labels: the campaign labels and recruitment wave described above, the survey identifier, the language of the form and the form version;
- the context passed by the link that opened the survey from the app: a stage label (for example “first_move”), counters and template identifiers in the address — never the text of a goal. The counters from that link are sent only together with the device summary above, i.e. only with your tick.
The server adds the time it received the record. As the hosting provider, Netlify keeps standard, short-lived access logs (which can include your IP address) as part of operating its service.
An update-list record contains your email, whether you agreed to be invited to future beta tests, and the same recruitment labels. A survey record does not add you to the update list; the survey has its own, separate box for that.
If the server cannot be reached
If the page cannot reach the server (offline, blocked, or a failure on our side), nothing is sent automatically. Instead the page shows the complete text of your answers so you can copy it, and offers a mailto: link addressed to info@yourpathway.app. Opening that link gives the text to your configured email app or webmail provider, which may save it as a draft; Pathway receives it only if you send the message. The “Copy my answers instead” link under the send button does the same copying without any server request.
One-week follow-up
If you left an email and ticked “one message in about a week”, we send you one email with a link to a short second page (d7.html). That page works exactly like the survey: it can pre-fill one answer from the counters on your device, asks again whether you want the counters included, and sends nothing until you press “Send”. We do not send that email to anyone who did not tick the box, and we do not send anything else.
Automatic analytics
This page does not send automatic analytics, advertising pixels or goal data, and loads no third-party scripts or fonts. The usage counters described above leave your device only when you tick the box and press “Send”. Standard hosting and network providers may still create security and access logs as part of operating their services.
Retention and choices
- Survey and update-list records are kept for the duration of the beta and deleted at the latest 12 months after the beta ends.
- You can ask us to delete a record at any time by quoting your survey identifier (shown on the page after sending) or the email you entered.
- Use the survey’s optional email field only if you want a reply. Each consent is a separate box; leaving an email is not consent by itself.
- Close the prepared email draft without sending it if you do not want the fallback text delivered.
- The app and this page share one browser storage: clearing this site’s data in browser or phone settings deletes your Pathway goals and progress as well. Export your map from the app’s Settings before clearing.
- Use the control below to remove only the landing page’s locally saved labels (attribution, recruitment wave, survey identifier and the “sent” note). It does not delete your Pathway goals or progress.
